POTW: Stylish Two Bed Apartment in BKK1 with Rooftop Pool

The Property Hound

“I step out of the rooftop swimming pool, soaking in the panorama of the Phnom Penh skyline as I dry myself off with a towel, and then take the lift down to my apartment to put a fresh lasagne in the oven.”

This is a rare sentence to be able to say in Phnom Penh. In any given apartment, you might have one of these features, but in this stylish apartment, you get all of these things combined and more.

Lost

Bernadette Vincent

She is having a rum and raisin ice cream, one of her favorite. She lost 2 kilos in the past two days so she deserves it. Does she? Does she deserve anything? Yes, her soul mate would say. Well he is her soul mate but she is not his, but that’s ok. She is used to this one-way relationship. Anyway, back to the ice cream. It was ok, not as good as the one she makes though. Her room is called sweetheart. That’s nice. Not many people call her that. She doesn’t really know why she is in a room called sweetheart all by herself.

Surviving Pchum Ben

Danielle Stewardson

A Cambodian friend once described the Pchum Ben festival as a time when all Cambodians return to their homelands, take gifts to honour their deceased relatives to the pagoda and then, once the religious ceremonies have been completed, invite the spirits of the departed back to their homes for a party! If you’ve never been in Phnom Penh during this festival, you will have no idea how true this is. The city literally becomes a ghost town – although obviously without the ghosts, as they’re all off enjoying those parties in the countryside.

In This Place, We Are Kin

Heidi Hoefinger

We meet at corner of the main street and the entrance to the maze. We navigate our way through the winding concrete alleyways in this Cambodian slum, past the salted snails, the fried crickets, grasshoppers, and iced coffee. Sochua and I stop and buy a bag of fried spiders. People around here recognize me now, but still stare at the white barang.

Strong Foundations

What the pyramids taught wealth managers

Any good builder knows that you will never build a house on sand. Well, let me rephrase that a little. You would not build a house on sand if you wanted it to stand up to the elements and remain steadfast for years to come-sand simply will not support the structure for you.
The vital element of any project is its foundations, the basis on which all other actions and decisions are made as a follow on. Good foundations will mean you can build a bigger, stronger structure that will stand the test of time.

The Symmetry of Seaweed - An Interview with Photographer Jenny Ng

totallyrandomman

Malaysian-born photographer Jenny Ng talks about her upcoming first exhibition of works at The 240 Gallery.

How did you get into photography?

I bought my first camera in 2003, but I was working as an accountant until 2009, so it’s only been in the last few years that it has become serious.

What made you switch from accountancy to photography?

Managing a team of 60 people is very tiring work. I was stressed and exhausted and decided I needed to take time off. While I was resting, I began to realise that my passion, taking photographs, could be my work too.
