any particular you need the .com.kh email address? Just get a .com or a .asia

To get a .com.kh you need to have a Cambodian registered entity.

Chat to Marek either way www.hostcambodia.com 100% reliable

Thanks Marek and Anthony

Marek - will be in touch in a couple of days

Anthony - I'm just about to register my business - and will open a shop after water festival. So hence the need for the email address.

For all you ladies needing Western size bras and underwear, your prayers have been answered. Shop opening after water festival with brands direct from Australia and NZ - yes its a shameless plug, sorry guys!

hello there,

I have been through this process

as you know, you can register a .com by yourself online, which is administered by the international domain registry, Who Is

the .com.kh is simply a licence that is administered by the government here, that in most cases is an extension of a local business registration

that is, if you are registered as a business locally, and want to trade locally through a website, then you should get the .com.kh licence, as part of your standard business registration (i think this is required at law here)

some countries insist on registration of businesses trading locally online (Cambodia being one of them)

to get this, go to the domain licencing authority, which is in the building adjacent to the post office, next to Van's Restaurant (near the riverside), on the left of PO, if you are staring direct at front of PO

you will need to pay a small extra fee, and do some paperwork

Thanks everyone for your help.

FYI - I need the .com.kh as the international .com name has already been taken. And its always nice to promote kh to a wider audience.......let them know we are out there and trading Smile

cheers

try . asia much better, who knows maybe a regional expansion in a few years. .com.kh will cost you at least USD 30 per year. the other normal domains are much cheaper.

actually, made a mistake, the domain registrar is called ICANN, and not WhoIs.

To be very precise, ICANN is not a registrar. It is the body that governs the whole domain name environment.

Organisations or companies responsible for particular domains (eg. .com, .org or .kh) are called registries. VeriSign, for instance, is the registry for .com and .net domains and PIR (Public Interest Registry) is in charge of the .org domain.

Registrars are companies where one can register domain names. GoDaddy, eNom, Tucows are among the largest.

Finally, a registrant is the person who owns a domain name.
