All photographers, whether Vietnamese or foreign, have been invited to submit entries to the 25th National Artistic Photography Competition
 

The biennial competition is being organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition and the Viet Nam Association of Photographic Artists.

"In past years, at the end of each competition, we have displayed all the prize-winning photos in an exhibition, giving audiences, both Vietnamese and foreign, a chance to observe artworks depicting the features of the Vietnamese country, people and culture," said Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Tien Tho, at yesterday’s ceremony in Ha Noi launching the competition.

"So it can be said that this competition and exhibition have contributed to presenting the image of our country to foreigners."

Photographers seeking to compete can submit up to three photos in both the black-and-white and colour categories by a July 10 deadline to the ministry’s Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition. Submitted photos must have been taken during 2007-08 and never been presented for competition in any national or international photography contest.

A jury board will select the best photos, awarding a gold medal with a VND15 million prize, four silver medals with VND10 million prizes, 10 bronze medals with VND5 million prizes, and 15 VND2 million encouragement prizes.

The exhibition of prize-winning photos is scheduled to open to the public on National Day, September 2, 2008.
