The Army pulled off the cup shock most people were hoping for but they left it very late and nearly blew it before scoring the winner in a 3-2 success in the Hun Sen Cup Final with the last kick of the game. Phnom Penh Crown got back into the match when Chan Rithy was presented with a gift from Army keeper Samreth Seiha, a minute from time but the stopper could breathe again when Thong Oudom loped forward for a free kick in the dying seconds and saw his header loop over the despairing dive of the Crown keeper for the match winner.

“Both Piseth and Dary were with me before (in 2007),“ said O’Donell.

“I trust and respect them. Both were national team players and have a good knowledge of the game, and we already have a mutual understanding of what we want to achieve.”
