Jet Li, Angelina Jolie targeted for new movie in Cambodia
PHNOM PENH, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- A famous Chinese action movie star Jet Li (Chinese name: Li Lianjie), and American movie actress Angelina Jolie are expected to be included in a new movie to be produced in Cambodia.
In a press conference held on Wednesday in Phnom Penh, Thomas Magyar, a project manager for the planned movie, and Tony Schiena, a project coordinator and a Hollywood star said the film they had planned to produce will be named as "Great Khmer Empire."
Equinox, when day and night are of equal length

I must doff my hat to the Chinese House in Phnom Penh who will host Cambodia's favourite contemporary dancer, Belle and her own dance crew, Silver Bell, for a night of new creations and innovations steeped in their upbringing in classical Khmer dance.
Magical musical
Bringing her musical to the stage in Cambodia has taken more than a decade for British composer Sarah O'Brien. Winds of Angkor was originally inspired by letters between prisoners of the Khmer Rouge and years of planning and considerable efforts by Sarah and her team came to fruition with a performance of the musical's highlights at Chaktomuk Theatre Sunday night. This was a unique occasion for Cambodian music and theatre lovers and the idea is to put on a full-scale production of the musical in Cambodia early next year.

Leonard Cohen Gig Postponed
According to organizers, The Mekong Sessions, Leonard Cohen's much hyped Cambodia gig, due to take place in Phnom Penh on Saturday Nov. 27, has been postponed.
Set to be one of the most expensive shows in history - ticket prices for the 5,000-seater Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh were running from US$285 to US$600 a head - and also claimed to be a "watershed" for the development of Cambodia's capital, the organizers have cited "insurmountable logistical issues" and are offering all ticket holders a refund. They also say that the 'Hall of Fame' singer remains "committed to performing in Cambodia" and that Robert Kory Management and world tour organizers AEG Live "maintain their full confidence in the local promoter."
Equinox, eclipsed by long Friday night
The Friday night Jazz fusion band Eastern Jazz Brigade and the hospitality of the smiling and laid back staff at Equinox brought out people in droves. And I thought it was the rainy season, the quiet season.
It was a strange contrast to see the Western band members perform in front of a cow hide traditional art work glowing red in the background.
Mixing styles
The final performance of Movin' at Sovanna Phum took place tonight and it was really great to see a packed house and six young members of the Cambodian dance scene giving their all in a 55 minute show, mixing classical, contemporary and just plain fun. I won't pretend to understand what every gesture meant, much as I don't with classical dance - I never used to watch dance before I came to Cambodia - but the six performers had the audience in tears and laughter and that's not easy to accomplish.
