OK, when in Rome, right? Seoul is one of those places you can get by without learning the language. But like anywhere else, if you make a little effort to learn, the rewards can be far beyond your expectations. Korean isn't something that's easy to pick up though, but with a little study, be it a in a class, from a book on your own, or through a language exchange, the investment will yield returns.

There are many standard courses with qualified teachers in a standard classroom setting - see the list below - but for those that don't have the time to commit, many other options are available. There is no shortage of Koreans willing and eager to find an exchange partner and though it may not be the easiest course of action, dedicated individuals can dig into the language with a variety of books available at any local bookstore.
