For anyone considering traveling or moving to the Philippines with any medical issues, bring a copy of your medical records and list of any special needs with you. In rural areas, even Angeles City area most hospitals are sub standard and your life and health can be at more risk going to the doctor than staying at home or in your hotel. For example, many hospitals have no x-ray machine. Those that do usually have no one to even take an x-ray after 5pm when he or she goes home. Also these small hospitals do not have a doctor available or on call on weekends.
In Manila however, medical care is second to none. Manila Doctors Hospital has a free clinic the size of a small shopping mall. Specialists covering all fields of medicine are available there. Only cost or charge is any medicine provided.
Two blocks from there is Medical Center Manila. Another very large and modern hospital where my wife spent several days. The best of care is given there and only a small percentage of the cost in the US.
One good thing about the Philippines is that most any medicines including anti-biotics are available over the counter at any pharmacy. So if you know what you need it saves the cost of doctors.
I remember several years ago I pulled my back while being stupid and lifting something. My wife went into Angeles City shopping and stopped at a pharmacy on the way home to pick up something to help my back. Imagine my surprise when she came in the door with 15 tablets of valium! Well, that took care of the sore back alright and my wife said I was in a good mood and wore a smile for few days!!!
