It is looking like we might be coming to live in Saigon for a period and one of our considerations is bringing our cats and dogs with us. Could someone let me know if this can be done safely if one lives in a villa with a garden. Are there areas suitable for pets? And, also, can anyone recommend any vets in Saigon or tell me where I can obtain a list?

Any other information regarding living with pets there will be very much appreciated.

Getting a pet in is no problem. There are some forms and probably a little extra money at customs, but I know at least one person who brought two cats without problem (except that they were sedated on the plane and appearantly came out a little bumped up).

Getting pets out of the country is very problematic and at least one pet owner had to pay a great deal to keep his dog in quaranteen in England for several months.

This vet has always been good to me. She speeks English well, is thorough and amazingly inexpensive.
