Hi fellow expats,

Even though I'm Norwegian, I have lived overseas in Egypt, Russia, USA, UAE, and the UK for the last 16 years. As an international citizen, expatriation and international assignments have always fascinated me. As such, I am undertaking research investigating the role of emotional intelligence (abilities to recognise and manage emotions) in international assignments for my postgraduate dissertation.

I am writing to ask if you or any of your colleagues that have been on international assignments (any length, any vocation, anywhere) would like to participate in my research.

There is one survey per international assignee to fill out. It has two sections: part one assesses the international assignment, and part two measures emotional competencies. As most of the questionnaire only requires you to circle answers, it shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to complete. All respondents will be anonymous.

I believe this topic to be particularly important, because establishing this relationship’s existence can potentially impact an organisation’s selection and training processes for its international assignments.
