mobile phone in laos

traveling to laos for xmas new year.
would like to get a SIM card. is this easy to do in laos.
where would i get one?

you can get sim-cards in many supermarkets like Phimpone right an the fountain. TIGO works fine in Vientiane, provides also GPRS internet. M-Fone and Unitel offer 3G as well. The latter seems to be easier to set up. If you choose m_fone you may have to go to the customer center to activate it - it's a 5 minute walk from the fountain. Just follow the road passing Diethelm Travel, turn left at the next street and it's on the left.
