Advice on family accommodation in Laos please

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children (6 & 3) will visit Laos the last week of September. We will have 3 nights in Luang Pabang and 3 nights in Vientiane.
Could anyone please recommend hotels that are family friendly i.e. must have a swimming pool and rooms that have 2 doubles OR 1 double and 2 twins OR adjoining rooms.
Preferably close enough to town / the sights to be accessible with kids.

Accomm in Vientiane with a family of 4, I think Laos Plaza would be your best option. There are other places of course, depending on your budget. There is the Novotel, Don Chan but this hotel I don't think is a good and a little out of the way. There is a Tai Pan near the river in a reasonably good location but I don't think it has a pool. Yes I believe for the location and facilities you require, Laos Plaza would be your best option. Have a look on the web and see what you think. Luang Prabang - Villa Santi Resort - have a look on the web but it is a little out of town. But a lot of these places do supply transfers into town or if you are doing an elephant tour or something you are normally picked up at your hotel anyway. In town itself, there are lots of nice places but not many that I can think of with swimming pools. Le Residence and the Grand are also nice but not really walking distance to town. There is another one but I will try and find the name as it is close to town and has a pool. So will get back to you on that one.
Do hope this is a help but feel free to ask. Maison Souvannaphoum that is the name of the place. More expensive - I have not stayed there but it is fairly close to the centre and has had good reviews. I have friends who have a travel company there and they recommend it. Hope this is all a help.

For Luang Prabang, Villa Santi Resort is a great choice. It would be great if you could get the Lao Airlines package combining the air ticket and Villa Santi accommodation. It's a real bargain.
