Looks like the landladies are going to lose a good tenant.I have had a small villa in a good spot for over a year now and always paid everything on time.
But the landlords dont like any of the family staying and especially the girls baby crying occasionally.
Gotta love the khmers, families are so important to our culture....yeah right.
What they mean is our family is important but yours can go and get stuffed.
No wonder the khmer rouge eliminated so many of the phnom penh ites, good riddance to many i say.
Anyway, anything available with two bedrooms and parking for one car and two motos for under $500?

marklatham,
I won't speak for other users but I for one would appreciate it if you toned down or eliminated your occasional references to the Khmer Rouge period that are like the one above.
Your posts don't really benefit from such additions.
This is a fairly free forum as far as postings go, but please consider that it didn't happen that long ago, and some readers of your postings may have been very directly affected by the events of the Khmer Rouge period? And thus may have a very different interpretation of your post than what you had intended.
Thanks,
BC

AM quite surprised that posting went out.

Apart form being totally insensitive it was extmely rude and maybe that is why the landlord wants him out.

He can always leave and go and live in his own country.

Sorry to have offended unworldly barangs here, what would you people do with the cambodian elite?
Suggest that more reading of history would be educational.
Can you people imagine how the elite behaved when the place was awash with american money.
We know that the generals didnt pay the soldiers, stole their food supplies and sold them as well as selling weapons and ammmunition to the opposition.
Knowing the cambodians as i do now i would suggest that the nek mien are some of the most greedy and unprincipled people in the world, perhaps some here will learn this in time.

I am really trying to take on board that you are an ok person, but I object to be referred to as an unworldly Barang , having been born in Malaya, bought up in Hong Kong and lived most of my life in Africa! Rather an experienced elder a sage even. Puzzled

It is true that the Neak Mien in the 1970s were partially responsible for their own downfall with their greed and corruption, particularly the Army Generals.

But a lot of those Bongthom had the money and connections to leave Phnom Penh before the Khmer Rouge took the city, this was not an option for the average "Neak Ot Mien" who got sent to the killing fields for being the crime of being urbanites.

The Pol Pot regime cuts deep into the Khmer concious and it is better not to talk so loosely about it - although I agree that landlords can be scum...

Though it's tempting to join the conversation here, I don't think it's ultimately going to go in a productive direction. So I'll opt out.

Instead I'll provide a more direct note to the original poster, who seems to have either not picked up on or has disregarded the message I was trying to convey:

If you're as well versed on Cambodia and Khmers as you repeatedly claim to be, you should certainly be aware that a number of your postings are likely annoy or offend some other users of the forums, Khmer and foreigners alike, and know why that might be the case. I suggest that more consideration of others in your community be employed.

Please feel free to express your opinion but you should try not to upset other users of the forums. I will certainly feel free from this point on to excise parts of your posts where I consider that it's in the interests of maintaining an enjoyable community here. Flaming, trolling and baiting aren't what I want to be spending my time reading. If that's how you want to spend your time, find somewhere else to do it.
