Hello All
Does anyone use or have used this facility? How is it? Do know the GM's name?
Thanks in advance.
Hi
Yes - i think it is pretty good. Think the current a/g manager is Alex. Has a good mix of machines as well as classes and a pool that you
can do laps. The only problem has been a lot of the instructors go on leave in Jul and August so class timetable been reduced. You can get them to take you on a tour of premises. It is fairly expensive but has better range of classess than most of the other gyms so depends on what you want to do. There is a deal if an exisitng member signs you up that can discount membership slightly
Hi, I'm selling my 6-month membership here: http://www.expat-advisory.com/forum/asia/cambodia/buy-sell-swap-cambodia...
better price than if you just sign up by yourself. negotiable. good if you want to try it out.
The Place gym is nice and fashionable place. I go there in spandex tights and my Ipad and do aerobics whilst checking Facebook every 12 seconds with all the fashionable elites.
Does anyone actually train there or do they all look that good
It's the most elite gym in town, but it's also got high quality equipment and plenty of space. If you want a free tour, just go and ask. Nobody spits there also, which is good.
I see they are doing $50 off one year for renewing. My understanding is they give that to any SCHMOE that walks in off the street and asks for it. These guys are marketing geniuses. Wow.
And now they are gong to sell KTM. OK. so no parking for anyone then. The person that thought that one up should be down the road in a year or so. I give it 8 months and they will be wishing that ideas was never thought up.
This place ripped me off I turned up for a class paid $15 and made use of the swimming pool and gym whilst waiting for the class to begin, and was then told it had been cancelled since the day before. I could have just used the VIP Sports Club across town exactly the same facilities and only $3!
The staff lied about a note being put up to advise customers of the cancellation, so I challenged the manager Alan Ainsworth to check the CCTV footage as I knew this wasn't the case, he refused and would not refund me. He then became rude and pretty much threw me out of the place. Disgusting behaviour.
I also spoke to Alex Vessella the French owner who wouldn't do anything about my complaint either and wouldn't show me the CCTV footage.
Alan Ainsworth is now advising me to take legal action and that I cannot have the $15 I paid back as I was previously told this would go against my first months membership if I joined, and as that is clearly no longer an option this is also another way they have just grabbed my money.
Complete rip-off, avoid this gym, from what I've heard classes are cancelled all the time. There were notes up when I was there stating that Kickboxing and karate were indefinitely cancelled and two customers who heard my arguments with the staff stated classes were always being cancelled with no notice. They were angry but stuck in their contracts.
AVOID!
OMG a 1st time poster coming in to whine like a baby
ohhh i want to see the CCTV. ohhhh the staff lied to me
grow up ya Nancy boy. have a cup of tuffen the fuck up
Dont be too hard on the first time poster that would annoy me as well .Perhaps I need to tuffin up also.
I can see how that would be annoying but I find it really hard to believe that neither the manager or the GM would work with andrewcalo to resolve the problem. They are both really nice guys (neither of them are the owner) and judging by andrewcalo's tone I suspect he was probably not very polite/reasonable in his dealings with either of them or the staff. To be fair he did use the gym and pool and certainly could have taken a different class so why should he be given a refund?
FWIW I have been going there for over 4 years and have always found their customer service exceptional and their facilities second-to-none. When classes are cancelled members are advised on the notification boards. I would agree that for a single day visit ($15) it is quite expensive and not the best option in town, but for a year ($650) it is exceptional value. The cleanliness/quality of the pool and equipment is in an entirely different league than VIP Sports Club and the two cannot really be compared.
It seems like andrew had an unfortunate experience that was compounded when combined with poor interpersonal skills...
I find it difficult to park the Lexie, I could go to the new car park near Score but it is just too far to walk.
NO it wasn't poor personal skills. I am a qualified yoga teacher. They knew from two days before that the teacher for pilates had cancelled. They should NOT be allowing a teacher to cancel just so that she can go to visit her friends in another part of Cambodia, and they hd plenty of time to find a replacement. It really comes down to the way the place is run and the staff not knowing what they were doing.
I agree it has always been badly managed from the day it opened. I need to exercise badly being an overweight over 50 but I found the service there right from the very first time I went to ask about membership appalling. When it first opened they would not even show you arounD the PLACE literally.
here here, I;m so glad this happened on my first tim there so i knew not to get caught up in a contract with them.
That's more than they tried to sell me - they offered me one year for about $500!
