Khmer citizenship for ex-pat?

Does anyone know how to find out about gaining Khmer citizenship? I’m an Aussie and my husband is Cambodian. I read on “Multiple Citizenship” website that “a foreign wife of a Cambodian citizen is eligible for Cambodian citizenship from the date of marriage.” However I haven’t been able to find out if it is true, and if it is how to apply, and if it matters whether of not we got married here or overseas.
Also I read that anyone can apply for citizenship if they have fufilled certain requirments such as lived here for 5 years, language etc. Does anyone know anything about this?
I'm in a smiliar position, recently married to a Khmer woman. Would like to know also.
I don't believe that citizenship is available because of marriage,otherwise the place would be swamped.
Apparently a large sum of money is involved as well as beibg literate in khmer including reading and writing.
A bit like getting australian citizenship now,except here having surgery to remove half the brain is not required.
well, you may want to get in touch with some of australian migration agency here and let them do all the paperwork for you. it will cost a bit but they do good job at getting things done!
Who are these Australian Migration agencys?
I have talked to people at the embassy, and emailed a few Cambodian government people from the websites but no one seems to know.
I've heard you need to live here for at least 5 years and know khmer etc etc, but I can't find the source of these rumours..............
It sounds to me like you need the advice of an immigration lawyer. I recommend that you determine how much you can spend, and search from there.
