iOften described as the "Picasso" of Cambodia's Modern Art World, this famous master artist tirelessly recorded his interpretation of daily life here in the Kingdom. A self-educated "smart naive" painter who was widely exhibited Internationally passed away in 2008 at aged 76, but his legacy and influence will continue to live on.

I have a modest collection of paintings from his entire painting period (he started later in his life) of 1994-2008. Do the research - there is much on the net and he is represented by a Hong Kong Gallery (10 Chancery Lane Gallery), in the collection of the Singapore National Gallery, the Singapore Art Museum and the Queensland Art Gallery (Australia) and Sasa Bassac Gallery represents him here in PP. His work is also in many serious art collections as well as various museums and exhibited widely Internationally (Fukoka Japan; Queensland, Australia; Singapore, New York City, USA).

He primarily painted 3 sizes 50 cm x 60 cm (#A) , 60 cm x 80 cm (#B), 100 cm x 80 cm (#C). The smaller size was heavily favored and almost all his earlier work is this size. The larger size is quite rare as he was a fast painter by nature and wanted results quickly. This tendency changed considerably as he matured as a painter and he became a much better artist overall. I prefer his later work as he took more care and time to construct his unique vision of local Khmer life. Yet some of the best of his earlier work is more naive and well paired also.

Case by case is how I think of his work. I've seen hundreds of his canvases over the years (since 1994) and the majority I didn't think were that good and I didn't want to own. My collection reflects the very best of what I saw after dozens and dozens of studio visits. He was prolific - and that's a huge understatement.

Anyway, while art is always subjective there is often also a consensus as to what is thought of as generally "good" or "worthy". Hence, art history and museums, etc. tend to support that concept as all well know. I am confident that SK will be more significantly recognized soon, that a comprehensive monograph will be published about his work and that he will be at auction more often (he already has been sold at International auctions).

I am (very) reluctantly parting with some of my collection because of (surprise) urgent financial need. My prices are well below half of the current 3 dealers of his artwork (Hong Kong, Singapore, PP).

Size #A - $1800.

Size #B - $2300.

Size #C - $3000.
