7PM: SHORT DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE – An unprecedented 17,000 participants and 30,000 activists streamed into Beijing for the opening of the Fourth World Conference on Women in September 1995. By the time the conference closed, it had produced the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing women’s rights. As The Beijing Platform for Action turns 20, the new documentary BEIJING PLUS 20 (2015, 8 min) follows a Phnom Penh conference organized by German Heinrich-Boell-Foundation. Local and international activists analyze gender issues in Cambodia and abroad.

This is followed by the screening of eye-opening short documentaries about girls and women from 7 SE Asian countries: THE MATCHES GIRL (Malaysia, 2013, 5 min), TWO GIRLS AGAINST THE RAIN (Cambodia, 2012, 11 min), FEMALE POLITICS (Cambodia, 2010, 15 min), A DAUGHTER’S SCAR (Cambodia, 2013, 6 min), Bin Molyka’s IT BURNED ME (Cambodia, 2011, 13 min), THE MARRIAGE PRAYER (Vietnam, 2011, 9 min), LOVE LETTER TO THE SOLDIER (Indonesia, 2011, 7 min), SENYAWA (Indonesia, 2012, 13 min), MY WORLD (Laos, 2013, 3 min), as well as LIGHT MY WAY (Thailand, 2013, 18 min) about the stunning career path of Thai Djane Nakadia.
