Malaysia beats China as Cambodia finishes Seventh

Malaysia maintained their 100% run in the 4th China Asean Invitational Basketball Tournament by piping China Guangxi 74-72 to emerge champions in the finals played on Monday night in front of over 5000 fans.

Malaysia dispatched Myanmar, Singapore, China Pingguo, Laos and Hong Kong in the group stage. They went on to trash Chinese Taipei who finished runners up in group B 95- 80 to reach the Finals.

In the finals, they met a stiff resistance from China Guangxi and the tie could have gone either way but in the end Malaysia prevailed 74-72 to win the 11 team Tournament.

KL blockade: Mass arrests, organisers slip into city

The police force is expected to battle with Umno Youth and polls reform coalition Bersih in the streets of Kuala Lumpur as both groups seek to break the blockade to mount two separate protests.

Umno Youth, which is rallying to defend the electoral system, will be congregating in Bukit Bintang at 1.30pm. This was a last-minute change from the earlier announced time of 10am.

Bersih has vowed to gather at the Stadium Merdeka at 2pm to call for wide-ranging reforms to the electoral system which it claims to be unfree and unfair.

Some one-way flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur will be offered with no price attached to the ticket's taxes and fees.

The cheapest flights from Hanoi will cost $39.

One-way flights from HCMC to Kuala Lumpur currently cost $205 while $95 tickets are available from Hanoi.

Terence Swampillai, director of Malaysia Airlines Vietnam, said the campaign targets passengers departing from Hanoi, HCMC or ASEAN destinations to Kuala Lumpur.

"The campaign aims to promote tourism in Malaysia and increase our market share in Vietnam and other ASEAN markets," said Swampillai.
