POTW: Unique Colonial Riverfront Apartment - not likely to be on the market for long

Never could that much used phrase ‘room with a view’ be better used than to describe this stunning 2 bedroom elegant restoration of an old French colonial apartment located on Phnom Penh’s riverfront on Sisowath Quay. Accessed by a bohemian-style entrance to the rear of the property you could be forgiven for thinking that you’re about to view just another apartment. You’re not.
Lovingly restored back in 1998, it has recently been given a contemporary lift with the inclusion of an imported open-plan kitchen complete with breakfast bar (and a chrome faced Nespresso coffee machine…). Wooden flooring has now replaced the antique tiles to the front and rear of the property but the owner has left the majority of this delightful flooring in its original state and quite rightly so. Floor to ceiling sliding glass doors separate the front shuttered balcony from the air-conditioned apartment allowing for al-fresco dining or a wind-down leisurely cocktail as the sun falls into the mighty Mekong. ‘A stunning view over the Tonle Sap and Mekong’ just doesn’t do this landscape justice. This is a view to die for….!
Above the kitchen is a galleried sleeping deck (bedroom 2) made from hard wood and ironwork that makes perfect use of the enormous vaulted ceilings and provides great sleeping accommodation when visitors come knocking or a snug area to watch a weekend film or take a nap….
The owner is seeking a long term let preferably - and at a very realistic USD$900 pcm this is not likely to be on the market for long.
