C-Ajer wins Human Rights Youth Tourney

C-Ajer Team emerged the champions in the U-16 Category of the Inaugural edition of the Human Rights Soccer Tournament organized by CIA First International School in Phnom Penh. In the U-13 Category, New Hope for Cambodia Children ( NHCC), an International NGO which caters for less privileged children emerged as champions in the One day soccer tournament held at the Vietcam Sports Center.

The Tournament which was organized by the CIA First International School was to help promote Equality, Justice and Human Rights for all lived up to his expectation as about 200 participants including Kids, Parents, Teachers and other friends gathered as early as 7am at the Vietcam Sports Center.

Squads from Schools and Organization in Phnom Penh took part in the tournament in both the U-16 and and U-13 Categories. The Participating schools and NGOs includes, CIA, NHCC, F-Love, French School, SCAO and C-Ajer.

" Equality, justice and human rights is for all and we are using this opportunity of the Human rights Day to promote this concept and bring together children irrespective of political, racial, religious, civil, social, cultural or economic aspects to play soccer together and make friendship" CIA First School Director, Mr. Andre Struve stated before the kick off of the tournament.

The three pitches were awash with matches from 7:45am until 12:30pm. The Home team CIA First and New Hope for Cambodia Children (NHCC) entered two teams in the U-16 and two teams in the U-13 category. While the other squads from F-Love, French School, SCAO and C-Ajer presented only one team each for the U-16 Categories.
In all there were 8 teams split into two groups in the U-16 with each team playing 15 minutes of 6 a-aside matches. The Two top teams in each group progressed into the Semi finals.

There were only 4 Teams for the U-13 hence a round robin league was played amongst the teams and the two top teams pitched against each other for the finals.

To reach the U-16 Finals, C-Ajer topped group B. The Team From American Intercon Institute drew 0-0 in their opening game against F-Love and went on to win CIA Team B 3-1 and trashed NHCC Team B 10-2 to top the group with 8 points. In the Semi Finals, they defeated CIA team A 2-0 and repeated the same scoreline against F-Love in the Finals to cart away the Golden Trophy.

In the U-13 category, it was a dramatic end that saw NHCC Team A emerge champions against all odds defeating the favourites CIA Team A 2-1 on penalties after both team played out a scoreless draw in regulation time and extra time.

At the end of the Competition, trophies were presented to the Winners and runners up of Each Categories CIA First Board Director Mr. Sam Sprung supported by the School Director Mr. Andre Struve and a pledge to keep the championship an annual event .
